Privacy policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
In short: a parent creates the account and the children's profiles. Children never give us an email address, a photo or their full date of birth. Milele Kids has no advertising and no tracking or analytics tools, and we never sell or rent personal information.
1. Who we are
Milele Kids (the website milelekids.com and the Milele Kids apps for Android and iOS) is run by OXMET Limited, a company in the United Republic of Tanzania. We decide how the personal information described here is used. You can reach us at privacy@milelekids.com.
2. What we collect
About the parent (the account holder):
- your email address and the name you give us;
- your password and, if you set one, your parent PIN, which we only keep in a scrambled form (hashed) that cannot be turned back into the original;
- your language, when you accepted these terms, and when you last signed in.
About each child, as entered by the parent:
- a nickname, an animal picture (no photos), an age group and a language;
- optionally a birth year and a child PIN (also kept hashed).
What children do in Milele Kids:
stories read, quiz and game results, memory verses practised, stars, badges, challenges, favourites and saved colouring pictures. We use this to run the activities, give rewards and show parents their children's progress.
To keep accounts secure:
for each sign-in we keep the kind of device (website, Android or iOS), the browser or app name, and a scrambled (hashed) form of the internet address. Our server logs record which pages were used and when, without internet addresses.
Notifications (parents only, if you turn them on):
a notification token for your phone and the language to write notifications in. Children never receive notifications.
3. What we do not do
- no advertising, and no advertising, analytics or tracking tools in the website or the apps;
- no selling, renting or trading of personal information;
- no public profiles, and no chat or messages between users;
- no access to location, contacts, the camera or the microphone.
4. How we use information
- to provide Milele Kids: accounts, child profiles, activities, rewards and progress reports;
- to send account emails: confirming your address, resetting your password and confirming an account deletion;
- to send parents the notifications they chose (badges, finished challenges and a weekly summary);
- to keep the service safe, for example by limiting repeated sign-in attempts;
- to find and fix problems, using technical logs that do not include internet addresses.
We use this information because you asked us to provide the service when you created the account, and, for children, because their parent created their profile and agreed to this policy on their behalf.
5. Who helps us
A few companies process information for us, only to provide Milele Kids and only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare, which serves the website and delivers pictures and sounds;
- our server provider, which hosts the database;
- Zoho (ZeptoMail), which sends our emails;
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging), which delivers parents' notifications, only when they are turned on.
Some of these companies may process information outside the United Republic of Tanzania. We will also share information if the law requires it.
6. Cookies and storage on your device
The website only uses cookies it needs to work: to keep you signed in, to remember which child is playing, and to remember your language. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. The apps keep sign-in details in the phone's secure storage, and stories you save to read offline are kept on the phone. Both are removed when you sign out.
7. How long we keep information
We keep information while the account exists. When a parent deletes the account, we wait 14 days in case they change their mind, and then delete the account, the children's profiles, their activity and pictures, and any registered phones. Copies in our backups are overwritten within about 8 weeks.
8. Your choices and rights
- see and correct your details and your children's profiles in the Parent Center;
- remove a child's profile, or turn notifications off, at any time;
- delete your account in the Parent Center on the website or in the app (see how to delete an account);
- ask us for a copy of your information, or ask a question, at privacy@milelekids.com.
If you are not happy with how we handle your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission of Tanzania.
9. Keeping information safe
All connections are encrypted, passwords and PINs are kept hashed, the Parent Center is protected by the parent's PIN or password, and only staff who need it can reach the systems. No system is perfectly safe; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Children
Milele Kids is made for children aged 4 to 14, used through a parent's account. Children cannot create accounts. If we learn that a child has created an account themselves, we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update the date at the top when this policy changes, and email parents about important changes before they take effect.
